Eagle Analytical Services, a subsidiary of US company PCCA, has been granted ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

This accreditation is the single most important standard for calibration and testing laboratories around the world. Laboratories that are accredited to this international standard have demonstrated that they are technically competent and able to produce precise and accurate test and/or calibration data.

Accreditation is a voluntary, third-party reviewed process in which a laboratory's quality-management system is thoroughly evaluated on a regular basis to ensure continued technical competence and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025. Eagle Analytical Services’ ISO/IEC accreditation covers 11 specific tests that are conducted on compounded pharmaceutical products. These include its state-of-the-art Rapid Scan RDI Microbial Detection Test, which uses fluorescent labeling and laser scanning technologies to detect bacteria, mold, yeast and fungi more rapidly than any other method.

“We are laser-focused on the testing needs of compounding pharmacies,” said J.D. Willey, general manager of Eagle Analytical. “This accreditation further bolsters the confidence they can have in the quality of Eagle’s testing. Every person in our company has completed PCCA’s core compounding training. This means we can help diagnose why a particular test result did not meet a standard and help our clients to improve their own processes.”

“Achieving ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication to the delivery of quality results that compounding pharmacies can trust,” added Gus Bassani, PCCA’s vice president of consulting, R&D and formulations:

Eagle Analytical Services provides specialized analytical services for the compounding pharmacy industry, such as high-quality sterility, bacterial endotoxin, microbial detection, beyond-use dating determination and active-ingredient potency analysis, using techniques such as HPLC.
