The Flipped Classroom: How to Prepare and Teach a Flipped Classroom

Date: Mar 30, 2017 - 15:00

This webinar will present the concept and rationale for using a flipped classroom to teach analytical chemistry at university level. Along with presenting methods for how to create the flipped classroom, strategies on how to conduct the class time, and engage the students will be discussed.

Peptide Hormones in Sports Drug Testing: Detection of Emerging Protein/Peptide Based Drugs by Means of LC-MS

Date: Nov 10, 2016 - 15:00

Therapeutic proteins and peptides have emerged as one of the most important classes of new pharmaceuticals. Several drug candidates with potential performance-enhancing properties are currently in preclinical or clinical development. The current version of the WADA Prohibited List includes a variety of protein/peptide-based doping agents, some of which can be detected in biological samples by using immunological and mass spectrometry-based approaches.

Automating mass spectrometry based glycan identification and quantitation using SimGlycan software

Date: May 5, 2015 - 16:00

This webinar provides an introduction to SimGlycan software for high throughput glycan identification and quantitation. We show examples of the use of the software for LC-MS/MS workflows for 2-AB labelled glycans, processing data for quantitative workflows using the recently introduced Thermo Scientific™ Tandem Mass Tag™ Reagents. In an effort toward rapid profiling and identification of glycans, we have developed web based software modules to facilitate construction of custom databases.

Quantitative LC-MS/MS Glycomic Analysis Using Aminoxy Tandem Mass Tags

Date: Mar 3, 2015 - 16:00

This webinar will provide an introduction to the concept of isobaric labeling of N-linked glycans with TMT reagents, with an emphasis on the labeling chemistry, sample preparation, and an overview of MS analysis workflows. The use of these reagents in biological systems will also be presented, including different cancer cell lines and different esophagus diseases.

Robust classification of stem cell protein localization by SPS-MS3

Date: Feb 26, 2015 - 16:00

hyperLOPIT enables characterization of the subcellular localization of thousands of proteins with high subcellular resolution in a single experiment. It relies on a combination of biochemical fractionation, TMT 10-plex labeling, SPS-MS3 method and semi-supervised machine-learning tools. Here we have used it to acquire a subcellular map which covers more than 6000 proteins in a mouse embryonic stem cell.

Discovery OMICS and Progenesis QI for Food Authenticity Testing

Date: Dec 9, 2014 - 16:00

For years, traders have been passing off a lesser quality rice as the world's finest long-grained, aromatic rice, basmati, in key markets like the US, Canada and the EU. Increased concern regarding the authenticity of basmati rice throughout the world have lead to new developments in Food Authenticity Testing.

Effective use of novel data independent analysis methods to obtain comprehensive and reproducible characterization of a biological pathway

Date: Sep 16, 2014 - 15:00

Data Independent Analysis (DIA) bridges protein identification and targeted quantitation by acting as a screening technique to rapidly and thoroughly survey a sample and direct future targeted analysis. DIA creates a comprehensive record of a sample by sequentially scanning all ions across a wide mass-to-charge range ensuring that all detectable parent ions and fragments are examined. In this webinar, we will cover building high performance methods, generating a high quality spectral library and using it...

High-coverage high-throughput characterization of breast cancer cell line proteomes using 10-plexed TMT on an Orbitrap Fusion

Date: Apr 30, 2014 - 15:00

This webinar will show how TMT-10 reagents and the Orbitrap Fusion enable the quantification of nearly 8,000 proteins in only 4.5 hours per cell line. This technology positions proteomics to be used in conjunction with genomics tools in studying complex diseases which demand the analysis of a large number of samples.

Comprehensive Characterization of Proteins using a Novel Orbitrap Tribrid Mass Spectrometer – The Game Changer for PTM Analysis

Date: Dec 3, 2013 - 15:00

This webinar demonstrates the advantages of using a novel Orbitrap mass spectrometer for qualitative and quantitative PTM analysis. The novel arrangement of the three mass analyzers plus advances in software not only increases the rate of high quality ETD spectra, but also the ease of routinely obtaining high quality ETD data.
