A comprehensive examination of the glycoproteins in the milk whey from several mammals by Chinese researchers has identified more than 200 N-glycosylation sites, the majority of which have not been reported previously.

Research papers from 2012–2016 on strategies for removal of salts and surfactants prior to electrospray ionization MS analysis in bottom-up proteomics, mostly based on SPE and membrane-based FASP, have been reviewed.

Biological stains such as urine, saliva and seminal fluid can be distinguished from each other using panels of unique protein biomarkers, offering a reliable way to assign the origin of a DNA profile in forensic cases, say researchers in the USA.
