Agilent Technologies has announced the promotion of Michael Tang to senior vice president, general counsel and secretary, effective immediately.

Tang has served as Agilent vice president, assistant general counsel and assistant secretary, and he has been responsible for advising the Agilent board of directors and management team on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and securities matters. He served as interim secretary following the departure of former General Counsel Marie Oh Huber in April 2015. Tang was the lead attorney on Agilent’s spin-off of its electronic measurement business to form Keysight Technologies.

“Mike is a brilliant, highly experienced attorney who also has a deep understanding of Agilent’s business and future direction,” said Mike McMullen, Agilent president and CEO. “I am delighted to have him lead our legal function as we take Agilent into the future.”

Prior to joining Agilent in 2006, Tang represented public and private technology companies in a broad range of corporate and securities matters at two California law firms: Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Fenwick & West LLP. Tang is a graduate of Columbia Law School; he also holds a degree in economics from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania.
