Thermo Fisher Scientific announced the four winners of its 2015 Tandem Mass Tag (TMT) research awards at this year’s American Society for Mass Spectrometry annual conference, which took place on 31 May to 4 June.

Now in its second year, the research competition selects four scientists from a pool of international applicants based on the innovation and potential impact of their work in proteomics. Winners receive up to $5000 worth of TMT reagents, which they will use with mass spectrometry to quantify, normalize and streamline global protein expression studies.

This year’s winners are:

  • Jon Reed, Roskamp Institute, Sarasota, Florida, US
  • Chenchen Zhu, European Molecular Biology Laboratory, Heidelberg, Germany
  • Jun Qu, State University of New York, Buffalo, New York, US
  • Matthias Trost, University of Dundee, UK.

‘Ceremonies that recognize scientific innovation are one of the highlights of our jobs,’ said Kay Opperman, product manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific. ‘It’s both amazing and humbling to see what talented scientists can do with our latest instrumentation and reagents. It’s a window into the future of proteomics.’
