The UK testing and certification company Intertek is relocating its bioanalytical liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) facility in El Dorado Hills, California, to its existing center of excellence in San Diego.

The increased laboratory capacity of the San Diego facility, which spans 46,000 square feet of laboratories, offices and sample storage, will allow Intertek to expand its bioanalytical LC-MS activities, which include evaluating biological drugs such as proteins, antibody therapeutics and biosimilars. To this end, Intertek will also be investing in new state-of-the-art mass spectrometers.

'Expanding and consolidating our bioanalytical capacity will strengthen our capability to address the challenges our clients encounter during increasingly complex drug development programs and provide them with the right data for informed decision-making,' said Chetan Parmar, senior vice president of Intertek Life Sciences. The company envisages completing the relocation to the San Diego facility by June 2015.
