Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche has agreed to provide technology and financial support to LabCentral, a first-of-its-kind shared laboratory space designed as a launch-pad for high-potential life-science and biotech start-ups.

Located in Cambridge, US, LabCentral is a 28,000 square-foot facility providing laboratory and office space to 28 biotech start-ups, comprising approximately 100 scientists and entrepreneurs. Roche will help expand capacity at LabCentral for high-throughput DNA analyses by providing a robotic workstation for automated purification of nucleic acids, a PCR system and an automated reagent freezer.

‘We are thrilled to welcome Roche as our newest gold sponsor,’ said Johannes Fruehauf, LabCentral's co-founder and president. ‘Having the world's largest biotech company on our roster of supporters is a testament to LabCentral's model designed to spur science innovation and fast-track start-ups to be successful and improve human health.’
