The global biotechnology separation systems market will grow to become worth $28 billion by 2019, says a forthcoming report. This market encompasses various techniques for separating biomolecules such as proteins, RNA and DNA, including liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, centrifugation and membrane filtration.

According to the report, liquid chromatography currently makes up the largest share of the global market, but membrane filtration is the fastest growing segment. Growth is being driven mainly by the need of the biotechnology industry for large-scale separation and purification methods for therapeutic biomolecules.
