Waters has launched the latest version of Progenesis QI, a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) software tool for small molecule 'omics data analysis. This follows its launch in June of a new version of Progensis QI for proteomics, a sister LC-MS tool for large molecule 'omics data analysis. Both software tools come from Water's recent acquisition of Nonlinear Dynamics, a British developer of 'omics data analysis software.

According to Waters, the new versions of the tools take LC-MS data analysis to new levels of speed and sophistication, allowing users to rapidly quantify and identify small molecules, lipid compounds and proteins in samples. New features of Progenesis QI include: pathway mapping, which helps place discoveries into a biological context; workflow automation, which enables the software to move through multiple processing stages without user intervention; and improved access to compound databases.
