Prospective biomarkers are too common 
A review of proteomics studies in the literature covering five species has revealed a common set of differentially expressed proteins, representing a set of regularly detected protein families. Many are linked to stress response, and their use as biomarkers of any other condition should be considered with caution. [June 22, 2009]

Stressed out 
The metabolic pathways of rats subjected to acute and chronic stress varied in the same way but the changes were reversible once the stress was withdrawn. Chronic stress also induced behavioural and physiological signs of depression which were supported by changes in the levels of metabolites associated with depression. [June 8, 2009]

Proteomics techniques were used to find useful fibrosis markers in the sera of hepatitis C patients with different degrees of fibrosis, leading to new candidate biomarkers in line with fibrosis progression. [June 1, 2009]
