Tutorial Competition Submit your video or PowerPoint presentation for the chance to win an iPad!
Initiative partnered by PITTCON 2011
Do you have an existing tutorial that you would like to share with a worldwide community?
Do you feel inspired to create a new tutorial?
So far this year we have held webinars, provided free videos... ... now it is your turn to share knowledge!
The Year of Education in Separation Science is an initiative run in conjunction by separationsNOW.com (Wiley-Blackwell's premier separation science website) and Chromedia (an online community and database of tutorials and other educational content).
We have launched this competition to facilitate and encourage the creation and sharing of educational material from within our combined communities of readers.
We will judge all tutorials on their content and how effective they are at communicating your message; you will not be penalised for technical limitations in the format of your tutorial.
An initial shortlist of 10 tutorials will be created, based upon these criteria. We will then provide as much technical assistance as possible, that you request, in order to help you improve the tutorial! We can, for example, create movies from PowerPoint presentations; record web-cam conversations... and much more!
Finally, members from the Chromedia editorial board will judge the tutorials from the shortlist... the winner will win an iPad!
Who can enter? - Anyone - including both academica and industry: student, manager, executive or retired!
Suggest that your managers, professors, students and colleagues enter too!
What subject should the tutorial be about? - Any topic within separation science: e.g. LC, GC, Sample Prep, Mass Spec, and all possible hyphenations, etc. - Any level from basic to advanced.
What format should the tutorial take? - Video or PowerPoint (you can also choose to include audio narration in your PowerPoint document but it is not obligatory). - All submissions must be in English (however, please contact us for advice if you would like any assistance in this regard). - Tutorials can be of any length. - Tutorials can be written by any number of authors.
How will my tutorial be promoted? - Initially, you can choose to show only the judges or the whole audience via galleries on separationsNOW and Chromedia. - You can also choose to display video tutorials on the SciVee website (more details given below). - All short-listed tutorials have to be displayed on separationsNOW and Chromedia (and optionally on SciVee).
How will I be kept up-to date? - We will send regular email updates. - We will also write press releases if they attract media interest.
I have more questions... whom can I ask? - Please don't hesitate to email us at tutorials@chromedia.org.
